Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is an American rapper, producer, actor, entrepreneur, philanthropist and occasional television personality. Dogg made history when his single “Gin & Juice”, featuring Warren G, became the first song to spend seven consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1998. Moreover, his debut album Doggystyle was the best-selling rap album of 1992.

 

In addition, Snoop Dogg is a part of the Los Angeles gangster rap movement. His lyrical content centers on drug use, sex, violence, and comedy. He has also been credited with pioneering West Coast Hip Hop during the late 1980s.

JayZ

Jay-Z began his career in 1993 as the leader of The Hot Boys, a trio alongside Damon Dash and Big Daddy Kane. The Hot Boys were signed to Def Jam Recordings in 1994. They released their eponymous debut album in 1995, which included hits like “Can’t Knock the Hustle” and “Big Pimpin’.”

 

In 2001, Jay-Z founded the record label Roc-A-Fella Records. That same year, he launched his solo career with Tha Black Album. Four years later, he released The Blueprint, considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

50 Cent

Born Curtis Jackson III, he grew up in Hollis, Queens and attended DeWitt Clinton High School and Boston University where he received a degree in Business Administration. In 2004, he started the label G-Unit Records, through which he launched the careers of Young Buck and Lloyd Banks.

Eminem aka Marshall Bruce Mathers III is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan, United States. He is one of the best-selling artists of all time in the US with certified sales for 22 million albums and 100+ million records sold worldwide. After achieving success with his 1996 release Infinite, Eminem went on to sign a contract with Shady Records run by fellow Detroiter Dr Dre.

 

However, his second album The Slim Shady LP, released on March 19, 1999,  it introduced many popular underground catchphrases such as ‘motherfucker’ and ‘dance off’. It was followed by the 2000s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Eminem’s third studio album was Encore (2005), which featured guest appearances from 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Obie Trice, and many other artists.

Drake

Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and actor. He became widely known to the public after being featured on Lil Wayne’s song “A Milli” and was later signed to Cash Money Records.

 

In June 2009, he officially changed his stage name from Aubrey Graham to Drake. Moreover, his debut studio album Thank Me Later was released on September 23, 2010, by Cash Money Records. Five days later, Drake performed his single with Lil Wayne, “A Milli,” live on Saturday Night Live. In addition, the  track listing for Drake’s third studio album Nothing Was The Same was revealed on February 24, 2013.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, composer, poet, record producer, musician, writer and director. Moreover, he has received general acclaim from critics, with praise directed towards his wordplay and metaphors. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, Lamar won Best Rap Song for “DNA,”, therefore, making him only the fourth person to win two Grammys for different works.

Tupac Shakur

Pac Div is an American hip-hop duo consisting of rappers Tupac Amaru Shakur and Jelani Maraj. They were originally members of the musical collective Digital Underground, formed by DJ Eddie Fowlkes in 1983.

 

Their first known recording together was the track “Doin’ Time For The Holidays,” performed live for only two weeks before Tupac had his death in 1996. In 1999, they released their debut album, Resurrection…
